by the age of fifteen. At seventeen he began working in nightclubs and

the age of 22. He worked in clubs until he was signed with Atlantic
Records in May of 1991. His first headlines from Nashville were when
he was shot four times while covering a friend from an armed robbery.
Ironically, he had just finished the vocals on his debut album, Sticks
and Stones.
