Short Biography
When Sammy Kershaw arrived upon the country music scene in 1991 with his first release, "Cadillac Style", he was quickly declared the future of country music. New Country Magazine noted him "one of country's few believable blue-collar performers". He did not have an easy childhood as his father passed away when Sammy was only 12. At this time he began working as a roadie for a regional performer. He then moved to Oklahoma where he sang with local bands. After he had established his reputation there he returned to Louisiana, where he became involved with drugs and alcohol because of all the stress of performing. He quit the music industry and took a job as a remodeling supervisor for Wal-Mart in the late 80's. He might have stayed there but a friend encouraged him to send a demo tape to Mercury Nashville. He was signed to a recording contract in 1990 and hasn't looked back since.
